Mardana’s Children was shot between 2018 and 2019 over the course of 3 weeks in India and 2 weeks in Pakistan. Our production team, consisting of members from the UK, Canada and Australia, travelled from East to West Punjab, bringing together various threads that interweave to tell the story of the Rababi tradition – a story of loss, wisdom and hope. The process of researching and shooting was a journey of discovery from which this short film organically emerged, as the story revealed itself through the various characters that we were lucky enough to meet and interview.
